Worsening inequalities / social inclusion
Covid19 has highlighted the inequalities that – both social and spatial in cities, towns and rural areas. Infection and mortality rates show stark contrasts – for example mortality of Black and Minority ethnic people is higher in many countries. Problems of Roma communities have been exacerbated. The poor are dependent on precarious work which the virus has made more challenging. At individual level, children who have no access to a laptop or wifi and no space to study end up with no education. Some initiatives have made a difference but there is a need for concerted integrated action across all levels of government. Workshop leader: Márta Márczis
