The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the international organisation Rurality-Environment-Development (RED) met at the NAT Commission (Commission for Natural Resources) Conference on “Financing the integrated development of rural areas” to talk about funding the integrated development of rural regions. With a view to the ongoing discussions about the EU’s next financial framework, they called on the European Institutions to set up an interfund for rural development.
ELARD took part in this conference and advocated for the renewal of LEADER and Community-Led Local Development and its regulatory basis as mandatory elements in EU policy for post 2020, funded in a unified manner through specific operational programs and substantial delegated authority to Local Action Groups.
