Event Details

The new College of Commissioners was designated by the European Parliament on 27 November 2024. Within a few months of designation, the new Commission is expected to present its proposals for EU budget and policies for the post-2027 period, and there are already signs of major changes compared to previous and current periods. The webinar will be held shortly before the publication of the Commission’s proposals, and it will offer an opportunity to reflect on:

  • the role of territorial and place-based approaches in the EU policies post-2027,
  • different scenarios of change, especially concerning the future Cohesion Policy and the place of rural development,
  • the expected consequences of these changes for local communities across Europe.

This first event will mainly focus on lessons from the past and expectations for the future and it will involve short contributions by three policy experts, followed by an exchange with the audience.  LDnet will continue the discussion on this crucial topic in a second webinar, which will be organised after the policy proposals have been published for consultation, probably in April-May 2025
