DigiMedFor Final Event brought partners together in France
On 13 May 2026, project partners gathered in Carnoules, France, for the DigiMedFor Final Event, marking the conclusion of the project and highlighting its main achievements, developed tools, and future perspectives for the Mediterranean forest-wood sector.
Representing ELARD at the event were Laura Incze and Marion Eckardt, who joined partners from across Europe to reflect on the project results and discuss how digital innovation can support more sustainable and competitive forest management in rural areas.
From project results to real-life applications
The programme also included a field visit to Domaine de la Portanière, where participants had the opportunity to see several DigiMedFor approaches and tools demonstrated in a real forest environment. Located on the edge of the forest, the estate combines wine production with agroecological practices, organic apple and olive cultivation, biodiversity, local products, and nature-based visitor experiences.
The site offered a practical example of how forests and surrounding ecosystems can be managed and valorised in diverse and sustainable ways.
As a project partner, ELARD led the communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement work package, supporting the involvement of local stakeholders and rural actors throughout the project and helping make digital innovation more accessible and relevant for rural territories.
Modernising the Mediterranean forest-wood supply chain
The DigiMedFor project aimed to modernise the technological landscape of the Mediterranean forest-wood supply chain by improving competitiveness, sustainability, and traceability of wood resources from forests to end-users.
The project combined advanced technologies such as geospatial analysis, artificial intelligence, digital twin modelling, and ICT solutions to support forest monitoring, ecosystem service delivery, and sustainable wood production.
Bringing together partners from European and non-European countries, DigiMedFor connected research organisations, forest owners, industry representatives, SMEs, and practitioners working across the forest-wood value chain. The Mediterranean Model Forest Network also played an important role as a testing ground for the project’s digital solutions and methodologies.
