The conference will address three topics:
- Challenges for rural areas: digitization, demography, accessibility
- Opportunities for rural areas through tourism: landscape, authenticity, nature, new markets for local products;
- Ways forward: Smart territories, new CAP, local and cross-sectorial cooperation.
Each will be discussed in a moderated panel, combined with best-practice cases from Europe and Italy. During the plenary session there will be simultaneous interpretation to and from French.
On this occasion, ELARD, represented by a member of its Council, Kirsten Birke Lund, was invited to take part in the panel dedicated do ‘Smart territories, new CAP, local and cross-sectorial cooperation’.
Following the panels, there will a high-level roundtable with representatives from the italian national government, european farmers, rural development and tourism organisations.

The Marketplace of Ideas is an opportunity for innovative, out-of-the-box, or challenging initiatives on sustainable tourism in rural areas from Italy, Europe, and the rest of the world to showcase their experience.
