From theory to action: EU LEADER approach in non-EU countries

FAO is organising a technical workshop on 3–4 June 2026 in Tartu, Estonia, to explore the role of the EU LEADER approach in supporting the sustainable transformation of local agrifood systems. The event will bring together policymakers, Local Action Groups, researchers and practitioners to exchange experiences, discuss implementation challenges, and examine how LEADER can be adapted in different national contexts.

The programme includes discussions on policy frameworks, lessons learned from EU Member States, and country experiences beyond the EU, as well as opportunities to build new partnerships. A field visit to the LAG Tartu County Development Association area will showcase practical project examples.

Participation is open upon application until 26 April 2026.
