SUMMARY:Empowering rural futures: the right to stay in rural areas
DESCRIPTION:This event is hybrid and in person – watch live on the link in the “details” section below.  \nWhat makes a rural community a good place to live\, work\, run a business\, start a family and grow old? What are the key strengths of rural areas? What can be done to help overcome the barriers facing people in rural areas e.g. transport\, housing\, digital connectivity\, lack of services and isolation? \nAs Europe faces mounting demographic and territorial imbalances\, the European Commission is advancing a transformative agenda to reaffirm the right to stay as a cornerstone of territorial cohesion and inclusive development. The upcoming EU Strategy on the “Right to Stay” will seek to ensure rural populations can envision viable futures in their communities\, supported by robust infrastructure\, services\, and economic opportunities. Central to this vision is also the Strategy for Generational Renewal in Agriculture\, unveiled in October 2025\, which aims to double the share of young farmers in the EU by 2040. \nThis conference will explore how these two strategic pillars—the right to stay and generational renewal—can be jointly leveraged to revitalize rural regions. It will highlight the need for multisectoral approaches. By aligning EU\, national\, and regional policies\, the session will showcase pathways to empower rural youth\, sustain farming traditions\, and foster innovation in Europe’s countryside.

DESCRIPTION:Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes can be used to enpower rural youth by LEADER organizations. The webinar aims to inspire and connect LAGs by showcasing successful projects\, sharing experiences\, and providing networking opportunities. \nThe webinar aims to inspire and connect LEADER LAGs by showcasing successful projects\, sharing real-life experiences\, and providing networking opportunities. \nThrough presentations and interviews with organizations that have successfully implemented Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps projects\, participants will gain insights into the impact of these programs on rural youth\, community engagement\, and cross-border cooperation (aim no.1). Additionally\, the webinar will serve as a networking platform\, allowing participants to exchange experiences\, discuss challenges\, and explore potential collaborations (aim no.2). With the support of the CAP Network\, this initiative also highlights the importance of youth participation in LEADER and CLLD (Community-Led Local Development) strategies. \nThe seminar will not introduce the LEADER programme\, as participants are expected to be aware of it. \nThe participants will be invited to join the online platform Howspace\, where space will be provided for continued discussions and knowledge-sharing beyond the event itself\, ensuring that the connections and ideas sparked during the webinars lead to long-term cooperation. Neither Erasmus+ nor the European Solidarity Corps programmes will be presented in detail at the seminar\, but participants will be offered access to programme related materials on the Howspace environment. \nThe webinar is designed for the following target groups of participants: \n– LEADER LAG Representatives – Project managers\, coordinators\, and board members looking for inspiration and practical guidance on using E+ and ESC for youth engagement. \n– Rural Development Practitioners – Individuals working in local or regional development who want to integrate youth-focused European projects into their activities. \n– Youth Workers & Community Leaders – Those who collaborate with young people in rural areas and seek new funding possibilities for youth participation and volunteering projects. \n– Municipality & Regional Government Representatives – Policymakers and public sector professionals responsible for youth policies\, community-led local development (CLLD)\, and cross-sector cooperation. \nProgram of the Webinar: \n13:00 Welcome & Opening Remarks \n13:15 Inspiration Session: Best Practices from LEADER LAGs and Q&A. \n14:15 Where to find information about Erasmus+ & ESC Funding\, short introduction Howspace platform \n14:30 BREAK (and opportunity to explore Howspace) \n15:00 Networking in small groups: Finding partners for future projects\, brainstorming potential E+ or ESC project ideas for LAGs\, Exchange of resources and collaboration opportunities. \n16:00 Wrap-up & Next Steps\, future opportunities \n16:30 End of the webinar. \nREGISTER NOW IN THE LINK BELOW

SUMMARY:32nd International Leadership Workshop for Rural Youth
DESCRIPTION:Sharing Skills – Shaping Change\nAgri-food systems around the globe are undergoing a huge transformation process. To help meet these challenges\, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) promotes international cooperation and networking as an important cornerstone of peace policy. The key guiding principle is making the human right to food a practical reality. The BMEL’s international cooperation with partners from governments\, associations\, the scientific community and civil society is characterised by open and critical dialogue. Cooperative activities are based on the sustainability goals contained in the 2030 Agenda\, promoting women and youth\, integrating marginalised groups\, and promoting opportunities for civil society participation and multilateralism. \nThe BMEL has been organising the International Leadership Workshop for Rural Youth since 1962. The 32nd seminar will be held in Herrsching (Bavaria) from 14 to 27 August 2025 under the motto “Sharing Skills – Shaping Change”. \nThe seminar is aimed at leaders and multipliers around the globe who are in positions of responsibility in the field of youth work or vocational training in rural areas. They are role models of integrity\, audacity\, persuasiveness and consistency. \nDo you want new impetus?\nAre you preparing for a (new) leadership role? Would you like to readjust and evolve your leadership position? \nEnhance your personal strengths. Learn how to make better use of them. Acquire new skills and build international networks to optimise the use of resources in your country. \nThink more broadly in rural youth work. Together with other participants from around the globe\, reflect on global issues\, such as empowering women and youth in rural areas\, implementing the transformation towards sustainable food systems\, fighting hunger and poverty or engaging in climate action\, and apply new insights to your individual tasks on the ground. Find out about international cooperation and become part of a large network of know-how and expertise. \nThe seminar is designed as a workshop and requires your pro-active input. \nYou will learn leadership skills and implementation strategies and develop your own personal action plan. \nParticipants must be proficient in at least one of the three conference languages – German\, English and French. \nThe organiser will bear the expenses for accommodation\, catering\, working documents and the excursions included in the programme. Accommodation may be provided in double rooms. \nThe expenses for travel to and from the event as well as visa and administrative fees must be covered by the participants themselves or by their organisations/employers. \nApplications are now closed.  If you have any questions\, please contact international(at)ble(dot)de.

SUMMARY:Smarter\, stronger and more competitive rural areas: The way forward for EU policies
DESCRIPTION:The EU Institutions are preparing for the next Multi Annual Financial Framework that will be tabled in July 2025. The next EU budget builds from the Political Guidelines of the European Commission\, themselves drawing ideas from the Letta and Draghi Reports\, as well as the Long-Term Vision for Rural areas and the recent Vision for Agriculture and Food. \nAll of this points to very significant changes in how EU policies are developed and delivered on the ground. It will also be the opportunity to reflect with senior representatives from the European Commission\, Parliament\, Committee of the Regions and European Economic and Social Committee as well as the leadership of key rural networks ERCA\, PREPARE on how rural innovation can inform the ongoing debate on future EU policies. Our president\, Piotr Saldocha\, will be present as a speaker. \nMore information in the event link below.
