SUMMARY:Supporting local authorities in Europe’s green transition
DESCRIPTION:What’s the role of local authorities in the green transition? Are rural administrations and stakeholders ready to take an active role in this crucial process? How do we engage effectively with local authorities to accelerate the transition? Join the webinar and discuss these topics with experts brought together by the RECET project\, funded by the EU LIFE programme. \nMuch of the renewable energy infrastructure needed for the clean energy transition\, including wind\, solar\, biomass and related energy systems\, will be developed in rural areas. This places rural municipalities and regional authorities at the heart of decisions on land use\, planning\, permitting and local development. \nHowever\, compared with larger urban administrations\, they often have fewer staff\, more limited access to specialist expertise and less administrative capacity to move quickly from planning to implementation. This can make it harder to respond to top-down demands\, assess trade-offs and ensure that local communities are involved in decisions that affect them. \nThis webinar is the final event of the RECET project\, which works to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and accelerate the clean energy transition in five European regions and their municipalities. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of rural administrations and stakeholders to take an active role in the green transition\, while supporting local acceptance and place-based solutions. \nJoin the webinar to discuss the role of local authorities in the green transition and how the RECET project has been used to support local authorities in Iceland\, Sweden\, Spain and Slovenia to plan for the clean energy transition and climate action. The RECET project partners\, experts and practitioners will discuss engagement approaches\, action-based policy making and the role of trust and simplicity as key ingredients for success. \n  \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Engagement of Rural Stakeholders in National & Regional Partnership Plan (NRPP) Development
DESCRIPTION:The EU CAP Network is organising a ‘Workshop on Engagement of Rural Stakeholders in NRPP Development’ over one day on 8 October at the Glenview Hotel\, Wicklow\, Ireland. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop will bring together Managing Authorities (MAs)\, National Networks (NNs) and rural stakeholders from across the EU. It will focus on how MAs and NNs can ensure that stakeholders from rural areas can effectively participate in the preparation of NRPPs and be key partners in the overall approach for the preparation\, implementation\, monitoring\, and evaluation of the NRPP.  Participants in the workshop will present experiences and exchange insights into effective engagement with rural stakeholders and the key role of NNs in the development of NRPPs\, reflecting on lessons learnt from the design of CAP Strategic Plans. They will also consider the involvement of rural stakeholders in NRPP governance. \nThe objectives of the workshop are to:\n\n\nDiscuss how MAs can effectively engage with rural stakeholders to inform the design of their NRPPs\, including the CAP elements\, following on from lessons learned in the design of the CAP Strategic Plans (CSPs) and other EU funding programmes under previous programming periods.\nExplore the role of NNs in engaging rural stakeholders in shaping the next NRPPs.\nShare insights into existing and novel approaches to stakeholder participation and outreach in relation to the planned NRPP preparations in different Member States.\nConsider the effective involvement of rural stakeholders in the governance of NRPPs at the national and regional level\, e.g. Monitoring Committees.\n\n\nThe working language will be English\, and participation is free of charge. \n\nThe event is on invitation only. Contact your national network to inquire into the possibility of participating.
